Code::Blocks представляет собой интегрированную среду разработки. Поддерживается работа с различными компиляторами. Имеется возможность подключения своих компиляторов. Есть поддержка плагинов.

Pidgin is an instant messaging program. You can talk to your friends using AIM, ICQ, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, and Zephyr.
Pidgin can log in to multiple accounts on multiple IM networks simultaneously.
Pidgin supports many features of the various networks, such as file transfer, away messages, and typing notification. It also goes beyond that and provides many unique features. A few popular features are Buddy Pounces, which give the ability to notify you, send a message, play a sound, or run a program when a specific buddy goes away, signs online, or returns from idle; and plugins, consisting of text replacement, a buddy ticker, extended message notification, iconify on away, spell checking, tabbed conversations, and more.

Pidgin (бывший Gaim) — модульный клиент мгновенного обмена сообщениями. Поддерживает наиболее популярные протоколы. Поддерживает как и стандартные функции передачи файлов, оповещений о наборе сообщения, так и возможность расширения функций с помощью плагинов (например есть плагин проверки орфографии).

Чтобы переключить интерфейс программы на русский необходимо изменить переменные окружения:

XMMS is a multimedia player for unix systems. XMMS stands for X MultiMedia System and can play media files such as MP3, MOD's, WAV and others with the use of Input plugins.
XMMS is mainly targeted at music playback, but through thirdparty plugins some rudimentary video capabilities exists, but there are much better systems other than XMMS for video support.
XMMS is not a port of Winamp but was written from scratch by Mikael and Peter Alm.

XMMS это мультимедиа проигрыватель. Поддерживает множество форматов, список которых можно расширить плагинами. Изначально XMMS рассчитан на проигрывание музыки, но при помощи пллагинов можно так же смотреть и видео.
Интерфейс очень близок к Winamp. Есть поддержка смены скинов.

HTTrack is a free (GPL, libre/free software) and easy-to-use offline browser utility.
It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site's relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the "mirrored" website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.

HTTrack это программа для скачивания интернет сайтов для их последующего просмотра в офлайне. Можно сказать что это аналог виндовой программы Teleport Pro или близких к ней.
У программы есть консольный и веб интерфейс (через веб интерфейс можно делать копии сайтов и просматривать уже скачанные). Есть возможность настройки различной фильтрации для скачивания. Прерванные загрузки можно продолжать.

Amarok это проигрыватель музыки. Его интерфейс сделан на основе Qt библиотеки. Samba is software that can be run on a platform other than Microsoft Windows, for example, UNIX, Linux, IBM System 390, OpenVMS, and other operating systems. When correctly configured, it allows that host to interact with a Microsoft Windows client or server as if it is a Windows file and print server.

Samba предоставляет возможность работать в windows сетях и работать с файловыми серверами и серверами принтеров (как по Netbios в windows). Может выступать как в роли сервера так и в виде клиента.

SIM-IM – клиент для icq, yahoo, msn, jabber, aim. Есть поддержка плагинов (те, что идут по умолчанию уже значительно расширяют возможности программы).
Из тех клиентов, что мне попадались под руку, этот мне показался самым удобным и довольно стабильным.

Может понадобится для некоторых программ.

FontForge - An outline font editor that lets you create your own postscript, truetype, opentype, cid-keyed, multi-master, cff, svg and bitmap (bdf, FON, NFNT) fonts, or edit existing ones. Also lets you convert one format to another. FontForge has support for many macintosh font formats.

Все программы мною были собраны для Slackware Linux 12, используя gcc-4.1.2 для платформы i686.
Возможно, пакеты будут работать и в более старых дистрибутивах и на других платформах.

All packages are made for Slackware Linux 12 using gcc-4.1.2 for i686 platform.
Maybe packages will work on older distribution and other platforms.
